Whaling Compass --John Kehew of New Bedford


Well-preserved, dry card, compass. Card is printed with an attractive 32-point compass rose with a  black background. . A brass cover fits firmly over the glass topped compass. A dark patina has developed over the years on this fine example.

Brewington lists Kehew in the New Beford, Massachusetts directories from 1841 until 1862, at which time he left for Boston and went to work with Edward Ritchie.
