Sailor Work Duffel Bag Lock
Most likely dates to the 19th century. I have seen these duffel bag brass handle locks before but never with such unique work. A rare and hard to find piece of North American maritime folk art. It is made of brass and in good working order. It would be threaded through the eyelets in the top of the duffel bag, drawing it closed. A small padlock would then be secured through the hole to keep it locked tight. It would then act as a handle as well as a lock for the sailor's bag. An antique brass duffel bag handle with a fantastic sailor made macrame rope work applied around the handle.
