I. Iversen Marine Chronometer
A ship's chronometer is the time piece that is accurate enough to be used as a portable time standard aboard ship and can therefore be used to determine the longitude by means of celestial navigation. This is a four inch silvered dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds and hours dials, inscribed “I. Iversen Bergen, No.125″. Set in brass gimbal and fitted mahogany case, accompanied by key for movement and case. Movement by Kronberg. Late 19th Century.
